• Check the UPS display for any active alarms
• Check the alarm log for the history of alarms since the last service
• Check the ventilation of the UPS cabinet. Inspect fans for free movement and investigate noisy operations. Remove and clean air filters where fitted.
• Check UPS Room ventilation.
• Check and record measurements:
  • Input Voltage, Frequency, Current.
  • Bypass Voltage, Frequency, Current
  • Output Voltage, Frequency, Current
  • Load Percentage, KVA, KW and Output Power Factor
  • Battery Voltage, DC Bus Voltage
• Check that the inverter and bypass are in synchronism. Record the voltage difference between the two supplies.
• Visually inspect the UPS unit inside and out for excessive noise, heat or other apparent signs of deterioration of equipment, power components and terminals, and record findings.
• Check capacitors for swelling or leaking.
• Visually check batteries for swelling, cracking, leaking, corrosion and evidence of loose connections.
• Record battery details – Age, brand, part number, quantity, voltage, AH rating.
• Record individual block float voltages where applicable.
• Ensuring bypass is available, perform battery discharge, record discharge voltage and current trend.
• Record individual block discharge voltages where applicable.
• Return UPS to regular operation.
• Check the operation of remote alarms and external monitoring.
• Confirm the operation of the external bypass switch and interlock.
• Thermally scan all accessible connections and components
• Complete service report and communicate to customer any issues or upcoming maintenance requirements.
